Temple Info This is an digambar jain atishay kshetra in bijapur, often known by its local name dargah mandir. The idol of Bhagwan Parshwanath is uniuqe in its own, usually Bhagwan Parshwanath's idol is adorned by five or seven headed serpant, but this idol is adorned by 1008 headed serpant, which is an wonder in itself. butThere are two temples in Bijapur. This Sahastraphani Parsvanath Mandir is older than second. This temple came to knowledge just before 100 Years, when a jain shravak who had bought that place to constuct house, land was being dug up,jain temple was unearthed, but without jain deity, which was a bad omen, the owner of land asked his nephew named SAKHARAM KASTURCHAND SHAH(INDIKAR)to supervise the job . While supervising the job he fell asleep and he heard someone was talking ,when looking around nobody was there, conversation was"I AM HERE ONLY,TAKE ME OUT"at same time the king cobra which was unusal,as it was afternoon when snakes dont come out in sun..this incident happened for three days continiously, when digging was done at that place... The principal deity Lord Parsvanath’s idol was found upside down below 6"ft ash,so to protect the idol, than idol was unearthed and small temple was constructed at same place by INDIKAR family, that is very attractive and miraculous. Its specialty is that while we drop milk or water in one serpent hood it comes out through all the mouths and thus whole idol gets showered. This idol is 5 feet in height with cross legged seating posture, Black in color. A Choubeesee is also here 3 feet in height with principal deity Lord Parsvanath. In another room an idol of Lord Parsvanath Black in color and one of Lord Mahaveer 5 feet in height Black in color, both in cross legged seating posture are installed. All the idols belong to 10th, 14th & 15th century. This ancient temple is surrounded by a rampart and famous as Sahastra Fani Parsvanath Mandir of Darga.
